Welcome to the University of Sheffield Core Genomic Facility

About Us

The Core Genomic Facility was established in 1994 to provide a DNA sequencing service to University of Sheffield researchers. Over recent years our service has expanded and we now offer DNA extraction, cell line identification, microsatellite analysis, and antibody sequencing. In addition to scientists at the University of Sheffield,  we also serve researchers from a host of UK and European academic institutes in addition to private sector companies. Find out more about our services here.

Our Equipment

The facility houses a host of equipment including an Applied Biosystems 3730 DNA analyser and 7900HT Real-Time PCR systems, Beckman Coulter Biomek NX robotic workstations and a Chemagen Chemagic Magnetic Separation Module.

Most of our equipment is operated exclusively by the facility team but PCR machines are available to hire by researchers upon completion of basic training.
